Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh was arrested after causing chaos near Shankarpally in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, which led to the diversion of at least 15 trains. The woman, under the influence of alcohol, drove her car onto the railway tracks near Shankarpally.

The incident took place on the outskirts of Hyderabad, near Kodangal Gate, where the woman, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, drove a white Kia Sonet along the railway tracks. Shockingly, the vehicle did not have a registration number plate. According to reports, she may have been filming a reel at the time.

Despite efforts by railway staff to stop her, she continued driving on the tracks, prompting immediate action from railway authorities. Railway personnel chased the car for a distance. Eventually, the woman lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the tracks and crashed into nearby trees, shattering the windows and bringing the car to a halt.

Railway staff managed to stop the vehicle and quickly alerted the local police. A police team arrived at the scene, took the woman into custody, and shifted the car to the police station.

In viral videos that emerged later, the woman can be seen driving the car directly along the railway tracks. Another video shows residents, police officers, and railway staff attempting to stop the vehicle and remove her. In a third clip, after the crowd successfully pulls her out and ties her hands, she is heard shouting in Hindi, “Open my hands!”

The incident disrupted train movement on the Shankarpally-Hyderabad railway line, leading to a temporary suspension of services, including trains between Bengaluru and Hyderabad. As a safety measure, railway authorities diverted at least 10 to 15 passenger trains, including a Bengaluru-Hyderabad service, to prevent a potential disaster.

Chandana Deepti, Superintendent of Police (SP) for the Railway Police, stated, “A preliminary probe into the matter revealed she worked with a multi-national company until recently. She is from Uttar Pradesh.” She added that officials recovered the woman’s driving licence and PAN card from the vehicle.

According to the reports, the woman is believed to be mentally unstable. Authorities are also investigating the possibility that she may have attempted to die by suicide and intended to stage the incident as a murder.

Soon after the videos went viral, Railway Seva responded, urging users to share further details to enable immediate action. Railway authorities treated the incident with utmost seriousness and acted swiftly to halt oncoming trains and avoid any casualties.
