Telangana News: An agency supplied students of the Upper Primary School in Kothapally village in Kotagri Mandal of Telangana's Nizamabad with rice combined with oil and chilli powder as a mid-day meal. The district education officer (DEO) launched an investigation after this incident on Friday, which went viral on social media. There are 130 students at the school, enrolled in grades 1 to 8.

Nizamabad DEO N Durgaprasad, mandal education officer (MEO), headmaster of Complex School, and other authorities paid a visit to Kothapally on Sunday and conducted an investigation.

M Kishan, one of the teachers, told investigation officials that numerous kids dropped the meal because the 'daal' supplied with the rice was tasteless. They protested about it to their teachers and two locals who were there. Later, several other students who came for lunch were provided rice, chili powder, and oil by the mid-day meal agency.

The next day, Saturday, some parents arrived at the school and began arguing with mid-day meal agency workers, claiming that their children had stomach problems after eating rice with chili powder. The incident went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader Harish Rao Thanneeru on Sunday took to social media and lashed out at the current Congress government in the state. He uploaded an image of students with rice and chilli powder on their plates and urged for swift action.

The leader also claimed that the state government failed to pay salaries of workers in the mid-day meal scheme.

He wrote, "In Kothapalli Government School of Kotagiri Mandal, Nizamabad District, on Friday, the students, who were hungry or hungry, filled their stomachs with rice mixed with chili and oil. It is sad that the government is so irresponsible towards the future citizens of India. The government, which stopped the CM's breakfast scheme to provide nutritious food to the students, has now miserably failed to provide mid-day meal. This is a proof of the careless attitude of the Congress government. Students are not getting proper meals due to the pending food bill and wages of cook-cum-helpers related to mid-day meal scheme. I request the Deputy CM @Bhatti_Mallu to respond immediately and pay the pending bills of the mid-day meal scheme, pay the salaries of the workers and fill the stomachs of the students studying in government schools."
