TGSRTC Special Buses: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar held a review meeting on RTC bus service arrangements during Maha Shivaratri on Tuesday. The Minister ordered the RTC authorities to run special buses to ensure that devotees going to Vemulawada, Srisailam, Edupayala, Keesara and Palakurthi temples, which are visited by a large number of devotees during Maha Shivaratri, do not face any difficulties.

Plans were also being made to run additional buses as devotees are likely to come in larger numbers than last year. The Minister also directed the appointment of special RTC officers to ensure that passengers do not face any difficulties when there is heavy congestion at bus stands.

RTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar, Executive Director Munishekhar, and Finance Advisor Vijaya Pushpa participated in the review meeting.

In another unrelated update, the Telangana government announced on Tuesday a reduction in the working hours for Muslim employees in view of the upcoming month of Ramzan. According to a notice issued by the state's Chief Secretary, these employees will be allowed to leave work by 4 pm in order to offer their prayers. However, employees have been asked to be present in the offices in case of exigencies.

“Government hereby permits all the Government Muslim Employees/Teachers/ Contract /Out-sourcing/Boards/Corporations & Public Sector Employees working in the State to leave their Offices/Schools at 4.00 p.m. during the Holy Month of "RAMZAN" i.e., from 02.03.2025 to 31.03.2025 (both days inclusive) to offer necessary prayers, except when their presence is required due to exigencies of services during the above period,” the notice read.
