12 wokers got killed and 34 others got severely injured after a reactor blast in Telangana's Medak on Monday. The fire officials stated that the blast took place in the idustrial area at a private firm, adding that eleven fire tenders have arrived at the site to control the flames. They further stated that the injured are being admitted to a local hospital, adding that the exact reason behind the incident is not knwon yet. 

"A reactor blast took place at Sigachi Pharma Company, Pasamailaram Phase 1, Medak. Eleven fire tenders have reached the site. Nearly 15-20 people were injured. Further details awaited," reported ANI, citing Telangana Fire Officials.

The administration is carrying out a rescue operation and they have not recovered any bodies yet, reported ANI, citing sources. "Till now we haven't recovered any bodies, rescue operation is going on, we will update in some time," Paritosh Pankaj, Superintendent of Police of Sangareddy, was quoted as saying by ANI.

While reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

"Anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000," PM Modi stated in a post on X.
