Telangana Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has upgraded its weather advisory, now issuing an orange alert for several districts in Telangana due to anticipated heavy rainfall. The IMD expects very heavy rains across the region on May 28 and 29, 2025.
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 km/h) affecting various districts until May 31. While the orange alert is in place until May 29, a yellow alert will remain active until May 31.
Hyderabad Weather Forecast
Weather enthusiast T. Balaji has predicted that some areas in Hyderabad could see rainfall amounts ranging from 40 to 60 mm. The IMD has also forecasted rain along with gusty winds for Hyderabad, further reinforcing the yellow alert for the city.
Detailed Weather Forecast for Telangana:
May 27: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely at many places. Orange alert with Heavy to very heavy rain alert has been issued for Adilabad, Khammam, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial and Rajanna Sirsilla districts districts.
Meanwhile on same day, Yellow alert for heavy rain is issued for multiple Telangana districts including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy. Additionally, gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are expected at isolated places across all districts of Telangana.
May 28: An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in the districts of Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jangaon, and Siddipet in Telangana.
A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations in the districts of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy.
Additionally, gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places across all districts of Telangana.
May 29: An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations in the districts of Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam in Telangana.
A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain likely at isolated places in Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, and Warangal districts.
Gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are also likely to occur at isolated spots across all districts of Telangana.
May 30 to June 1: Yellow alert has been issued for light to moderate rain or thundershowers possible in a few areas, with gusty winds continuing.
From June 1 to June 3: Yellow alert has issued for light to moderate rain likely at various places, with no significant warnings issued.
