Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department has forecasted rainfall across 19 states and Union territories on Wednesday (September 23).

As per the IMD forecast, light to heavy and very heavy rains are very likely in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Kerala.

A yellow alert has been announced in Jharkhand, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, southern Bengal, Karnataka, parts of Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall in 4 states

An orange alert has also been issued for Chhattisgarh and Telangana. The weather department has also issued a red alert for coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

The four states are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday as a low pressure area over west-central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression.

Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh are also expected to witness strong winds, reaching a speed of up to 50-60 kmph and gusting up to 70 kmph. Over the Bay of Bengal, winds are expected to reach 55-65 kmph, with gusts up to 75 kmph on Wednesday.

Uttar Pradesh weather

Parts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to get light to scattered rainfall at isolated places on Wednesday. The weather department has said that rains could lash both eastern and western regions.

After Wednesday, the rain activity is likely to increase in UP. Between September 25 and 27, several parts of the state would get heavy rainfall.

Delhi

Weather in the national capital would remain mostly clear on Wednesday. As per IMD, the maximum temperature is likely to settle between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum temperature may remain between 23°C and 25°C.

At most places, the two temperatures are expected to remain around normal.
