Trump Assassination Attempt:  Former United States President Donald Trump escaped an assassination attempt on Saturday when a 20-year-old gunman fired shots at him at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, piercing the upper right ear of the Republican hopeful. The suspected shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed on the spot by a counter-sniper team of the US Secret Service. Amid the chaotic scenes at the gathering after the firing, bleeding Trump stood up defiantly and said, "Fight, Fight...Fight".

The attack sparked outrage among the global as well as US leaders, with everyone decrying the 'political violence'. The assassination attempt also ignited a storm on social media, with Donald Trump trending throughout the day. While many users condemned the attack, various conspiracy theories also surfaced. Amid numerous posts, several users posted that The Simpsons, an American sitcom predicted the Donald Trump assassination attempt.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a resident of Bethel Park in Pennsylvania. FBI and other US federal agencies are trying to uncover the motive behind Donald Trump's assassination attempt.

At the time of the shooting, Crooks had positioned himself on the rooftop of a nearby manufacturing unit. As soon as he fired shots at Trump, the Secret Service sniper team neutralised him. An AR-type weapon was discovered on the rooftop of the factory.
