Former US President Donald Trump was on Sunday injured after an unidentified attacker showered bullets during his poll rally in Pennsylvania. A bullet reportedly grazed his right ear, creating utter chaos in the area. Although Trump narrowly escaped, the incident has raised several questions about the security of American presidents and nominees, as this was not the first such assassination bid.
Speaking of the past, there have been 15 separate occasions of attacks against US presidents and candidates, five of which resulted in fatalities. Out of the 45 persons who have served as president, 13 were either assassinated or witnessed attempts made on their lives. Additionally, former Presidents Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and President Joe Biden have all been targets of assassination attempts.

Out of the last nine US presidents, at least seven have faced attacks, assaults, or assassination attempts.
According to a 2008 report by the Congressional Research Service, the presidents who survived these attacks include:
- Gerald R Ford- He was attacked four times in 1975
- Ronald Reagan- He survived a nearly fatal bullet attack in 1981
- Bill Clinton- He survived the 1994 White House attack
- George W. Bush- In 2005, during an event in Tbilisi, an assailant threw a grenade at him and the President of Georgia, but it failed to detonate.
US Presidents who were assassinated:
Four US presidents—Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy—have been assassinated.
Abraham Lincoln: 16th US President Abraham Lincoln was killed by an American actor John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865.
James A. Garfield: 20th US President James A Garfield was killed by one Charles J Guiteau on July 2, 1881. Garfield was later hanged to death in 1882.

William McKinley: 25th US President William McKinley was shot dead by one Leon F. Czolgosz on September 6, 1901. On October 29, 1901, the killer was executed in the electric chair.
John F Kennedy: 35th US President John F Kennedy was shot dead by one Harvey Oswald in November 1963. The accused was killed in a gunfight.
