New Delhi | Akshata Kumbar: Sad news for Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans, the dog who played Cheddar is no more. Famously known as Cheddar, the dog’s real name is Stewart. The dog owner in an emotional post on Instagram said: “My precious boy Stewart crossed the rainbow bridge today.”

Describing Stewart aka Cheddar’s last day, the owner said: “We went to the beach (his favorite place) where he frolicked in the surf and then enjoyed a picnic lunch of In & Out burgers. We relaxed in the sun and just enjoyed each other’s company. Our veterinarian met us there later and Stewart went to sleep peacefully in my arms while listening to the sounds of the ocean.”

Cheddar is the dog of Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), the head of 99th precinct of the New York Police department.

Stewart is survived by his sister Stella.
