Millions of new cases of breast cancer are reported each year, making it one of the most prevalent cancers affecting women globally. The goal of 2025's Breast Cancer Awareness Day is to raise awareness of the disease's mortality rate by promoting early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and prompt treatment. Even though survival rates have increased due to medical advancements, environmental factors, ageing populations and changing lifestyles are all contributing to an increase in new cases worldwide.
The highest rates of breast cancer are found in countries like China, the US, and India, followed by Brazil, Japan, and Russia. This rise is mostly caused by factors like poor diet, obesity, stress, inactivity, and delayed diagnosis. To control this worldwide issue, awareness campaigns, routine screenings, and lifestyle modifications are essential.

1. China – 3,57,161 Cases
Globally, China has the highest rate of breast cancer cases. Unhealthy diets, postponed childbirth, reduced breastfeeding, and changes in urban lifestyle are all contributing factors to the sharp increase. Women are more likely to develop cancer as a result of hormonal imbalances brought on by rising pollution and stress levels in urban areas.
2. United States – 2,74,375 Cases
Ageing populations, obesity, alcohol use, and genetic factors all contribute to the high incidence of breast cancer in the United States. Nonetheless, high survival rates and early detection are guaranteed by sophisticated healthcare systems. Mammography screenings and awareness campaigns aid in the early detection of cancer.
3. India – 1,92,090 Cases
Due to urban lifestyle factors like stress and poor diet, as well as delayed diagnosis and a lack of awareness, the number of breast cancer cases in India is rapidly increasing. Still, a lot of women are reluctant to get screened, which causes treatment delays and increased death rates.

4. Brazil – 94,728 Cases
In Brazil, sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary choices, and obesity are associated with an increasing number of breast cancer cases. Late detection is also caused by rural areas' limited access to early screening facilities. Free screening camps and awareness-raising are now the main goals of government initiatives.
5. Japan – 91,916 Cases
Western eating habits, postponed marriage and childbirth, and decreased breastfeeding have all contributed to an increase in the incidence of breast cancer in Japan. Nonetheless, the nation's robust healthcare system guarantees high survival rates by providing prompt medical attention and raising awareness.
6. Russia – 78,839 Cases
Smoking, alcohol consumption, and a lack of access to preventive healthcare in rural areas are linked to an increase in breast cancer cases in Russia. Treatment is more difficult because many women receive their diagnoses later. Regular health checkups are becoming more widely known.
7. Germany – 74,016 Cases
The ageing female population and lifestyle-related risk factors like diet, obesity, and inactivity are the main causes of Germany's high breast cancer case count. Positively, prompt diagnosis and efficient treatment are guaranteed by the nation's robust healthcare system.
8. Indonesia – 66,271 Cases
Due to poor awareness, delayed detection, and a lack of healthcare facilities in rural areas, the number of breast cancer cases in Indonesia is on the rise. Due to cultural stigma and a lack of education, many women steer clear of screening. To alter this mentality, awareness campaigns are being launched.
