As Joe Biden ended his 2024 presidential bid and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the next Democratic nominee, an old episode of The Simpsons is going viral on the internet, showing incidents similar to those shown in the 2000 animation series.

A social media user on X shared an old clip of The Simpsons in which Lisa Simpson became the first female president of the United States. The clip was part of the 17th episode of the 11th season of The Simpsons, which aired in 2000.

In the episode, Lisa is seen wearing the same purple-coloured outfit and pearl necklace, resembling what Kamala Harris wore at Joe Biden's inauguration, suggesting a future ascent to the presidency. In the sitcom, Lisa Simpson was the first female president of the US. Further, Lisa was shown to handle the budget crisis left behind by President Trump.

As the Simpsons were trending on the internet, show writer Al Jean addressed the latest "prediction" by sharing an image of Lisa and Kamala Harris side by side in his tweet on X. "The Simpsons 'prediction' I'm proud to be a part of," Jean wrote.

Jean has attributed this incident to mere luck. “If you write 700 episodes and you don't predict anything, then you're pretty bad. If you throw enough darts, you're going to get some bullseyes,” Jean explained.

Simpsons Predictions That Came True

The Simpsons series has long been known for its true predictions, including the advent of smartwatches, Donald Trump’s presidency, Disney’s acquisition of Fox, and the Nobel Prize in Economics being awarded to Finnish economist Bengt R Holmström.

In the 2008 episode ‘Treehouse of Horror XIX’, which aired before that year's presidential election, Homer tries to vote for Barack Obama on an electronic voting machine, but the machine records his vote for John McCain. This happens six times in the show. In reality, in 2012, news outlets like MSNBC reported that an electronic voting machine was found to be swapping votes from Obama to the Republican nominee, Mitt Romney.
