Former US president Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inciting violence through their rhetoric which he claims led to a second assassination attempt on him. The Republican candidate for the US Presidential Election 2024 said that the suspect’s actions were influenced by the Democrats' "highly inflammatory language."
In a recent interview with Fox News, the former US president sharply criticized Democrats, suggesting that their "highly inflammatory language" had influenced the actions of a suspected gunman. His statement came a day after he escaped an attack at the International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out,” Trump said in the interview.
Criticizing Biden and Harris for their previous characterizations of him as a “threat to democracy,” Trump stated that, contrary to their self-described roles as “unity” leaders, Biden and Harris are undermining the nation. “They are the opposite,” Trump claimed, labelling them as forces bent on “destroying our country” and referring to them as the “enemy from within.”
In an interview with Fox News, Trump also slammed the media and said, “The media is made up of fools that will spew [Democrats’] garbage and spew their sick philosophies and will protect them at all costs, and they can’t believe they get away with it.”
This was the second assassination attempt on Trump. Earlier, he survived an assassination bid after he was shot in the ear at a Pennsylvania rally by a gunman who killed one person and wounded others before being fatally shot by police on July 13.
