Cardi B was unanimously acquitted of assault charges by a California jury on Tuesday in a $24 million complaint filed by her former security guard over an incident outside an obstetrician's office in Beverly Hills in 2018. The 12-member Los Angeles Superior Court jury discussed for less than an hour before giving a verdict in favor of the 32-year-old Grammy-winning hip-hop singer, whose best-known songs include Taki Taki and I Like It.

Cardi B strongly cautioned anyone thinking of accusing her of anything after this ruling. "Following this verdict, Cardi B issued a strong warning to anyone considering targeting her with false accusations. I will say it on my deathbed. I did not touch that woman. I did not touch that girl," she said.

Cardi B added, "I’m not that celeb that you sue and you think is going to settle. I'm not gonna settle. Especially when I'm super completely innocent."

What Was Cardi B Accused With?

The whole scenario began at an at a Beverly Hills OB-GYN clinic where Emani Ellis accused Cardi B of scratching her face. She filed the lawsuit, claiming that when the rapper was covertly expecting her first child, Cardi spat on her and scratched her face with her fingernail.

Throughout the trial, however, the rapper insisted that Emani was the real aggressor. She also revealed that he filmed her in an attempt to violate her privacy. Cardi B denied any physical touch even though she acknowledged a 'heated verbal exchange.' The witnesses' evidence attested to the fact that they did not see any physical action.

Emani Ellis maintained that the experience left her damaged and that it hurt her chances of getting a job in the future. She requested compensation for lost pay, mental distress, and medical expenses. According to her attorney, they want to appeal.
