The Harry Potter reboot has been ruling the headlines, internationally as well as in India. Fans have been making theories, resulting in the spread of several rumours surrounding the casting of the HBO series. A buzz that persistently remains on the internet is that Cillian Murphy is expected to play the role of Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter series. Netizens hailed the rumours of seeing the Oscar-winning actor as the Dark Lord. However, the actor has finally broken his silence and talked about the ongoing speculations.

Cillian Murphy recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where the host Josh Horowitz discussed the possibility of Cillian being the next villain in the much-loved series. Addressing the rumours of him stepping into the Potter universe, the actor said, “No, my kids show me it occasionally, but no, I don’t know anything about that. I mean, also, it’s just really hard to follow anything Ralph Fiennes does. The man is an absolute acting legend. So, good luck to whoever is going to fill those shoes.” FYI, Ralph Fiennes played the role in five of the eight Harry Potter movies.

The buzz started when, last year, Ralph Fiennes appeared on Watch What Happens Live and shared that Cillian Murphy would be the best option for the role. “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favour of Cillian. Yeah,” he shared. Recently, Warwick Davis was confirmed to reprise his role of Professor Filius Flitwick in the series. HBO made the announcement with a post on Instagram and shared the photo of Davis standing on the steps of the Hogwarts Express, which read number 5977.

For the unversed, fans will see Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley in the upcoming wizard series. Other confirmed cast members of the Harry Potter series are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge. Helmed by Mark Mylod, you can expect the series to premiere in 2027.
