Harry Potter Reboot First Look: HBO's Harry Potter series, the long-awaited return to J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world, has officially started filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., This comes almost after 14 years after the conclusion of Harry’s journey on the big screen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The makers unveiled the first look of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter on Monday, which has already sparked anticipation about the Harry Potter reboot series has in store.

In the upcoming series, Dominic will be filling some big shoes, taking over from Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed Harry in the original Warner Bros. film franchise. He has been selected from more than 30,000 actors along with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The first look poster of Dominic as Harry was shared by HBO Max on their Instagram handle. He can be seen smiling while standing in a Hogwarts uniform, wearing the iconic round glasses. He poses with the clapboard, signalling that the journey has begun. Along with the post, the caption read, "First-years, step forward. The HBO Original Harry Potter series is now in production." Harry Potter TV Series New Cast Announced

The new casting of characters was also announced by the makers. It includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

John Lithgow will play Dumbledore in the series, while Paapa Essiedu will portray McGonagall. Janet McTeer will take on the role of Snape, and Nick Frost will appear as Hagrid in J.K. Rowling's wizarding world.

Harry Potter TV Series Plot

Led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, the new chapter in the beloved book-turned-movie-franchise will centre around a story of a young Potter as he discovers he’s a wizard, leaves his Muggle family behind and sets off to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During his journey, he befriends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger and battles Lord Voldemort, as per a Variety report.

J.K. Rowling, who created the Harry Potter universe, is on board as an executive producer and is impressed with the initial episodes of the series.

She wrote on her official X handle, "I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!"

The series has also been confirmed to debut in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max, as per a Variety report.
