Brian Jeffrey Raymond Case: A former CIA officer was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Wednesday for drugging and sexually abusing multiple women in various countries over a course of 14 years, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) announced. Between 2006 and 2020, now-48-year-old Brian Jeffrey Raymond captured photographs and recorded videos of as many as 25 nude and partially nude women, in Mexico City and elsewhere, while they were unconscious or incapable of consenting, as per the DoJ.
He pleaded guilty to one count each of sexual abuse, abusive sexual contact, coercion and enticement, and transportation of obscene material in November last year. According to the DoJ, the plea deal involved Raymond admitting to "drugging and then engaging in nonconsensual sexual acts with four women and nonconsensual sexual contact with six women". Raymond further pleaded guilty to "drugging and then creating obscene material depicting 28 women without their knowledge or permission and drugging two other women", the department added.
BRIAN JEFFREY RAYMOND CASE: WHO IS DISGRACED EX CIA OFFICER?
- Brian Jeffrey Raymond worked at the CIA, the external intelligence agency of the US, for an unspecified amount of time, which was described by the FBI, in October 2021, as "many years".
- He met many of his victims, both in the US and abroad, via dating apps, the FBI said in a public appeal for information released on October 25, 2021.
- "After drugging these women, he stripped, sexually abused, and photographed them. Today’s sentence ensures that the defendant will be properly marked as a sex offender for life, and he will spend a substantial portion of the rest of his life behind bars," US Attorney Matthew Graves said during the sentencing in the US District Court.
- "When this predator was a government employee, he lured unsuspecting women to his government-leased housing and drugged them," Graves added.
- Raymond was living in Mexico City and working at the US Embassy there from August 2018 through May 2020, according to the FBI.
- The investigation stemmed from an incident wherein a naked woman was seen screaming for help from the balcony of Raymond’s residence in Mexico City on May 31, 2020, the FBI said in its October 2021 communique. According to court documents, the incident took place in Raymond's government-leased housing while he was on an official assignment.
