Charlie Kirk murder case: The assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk has shaken the US political landscape. As probe agencies tighten their investigation, the spotlight has now turned on Lance Twiggs, the 22-year-old transgender partner of accused shooter Tyler Robinson. Governor Spencer Cox revealed that Robinson is refusing to cooperate with investigators, while Twiggs has been “shocked” by the incident and is providing full assistance to law enforcement.

Who Is Lance Twiggs?

Lance Twiggs, 22, is a South Utah native and a student of Utah Tech University. Friends and social media posts suggest that Twiggs is an avid gamer, often sharing clips of popular titles such as Apex Legends and Rocket League. He lived in a three-bedroom apartment in St. George, Utah, with Tyler Robinson, who has been arrested for Kirk’s murder.

New York Post have described Twiggs as Robinson’s transgender partner, allegedly in the process of transitioning from male to female. While authorities have not officially confirmed the nature of the relationship, Cox referred to Twiggs as Robinson’s “romantic partner.”

According to officials, Twiggs’ cooperation has been crucial. He reportedly handed over text messages from Robinson about hiding the weapon after the shooting. One message read, “Need to retrieve a rifle from a drop point.” Investigators later recovered a Mauser .30-06 calibre rifle wrapped in a towel near Utah Valley University, the site of the shooting. Ballistic tests matched the weapon with shell casings left at the scene, some of which carried anti-fascist inscriptions.

Twiggs’ grandfather, Jerry Twiggs, told Daily Mail that he was aware his grandchild was cooperating with the FBI but declined to comment on rumours regarding transgender identity or the motive behind the shooting. A family member also described Lance as the “black sheep” of the family but admitted she wouldn’t be surprised if the transition claims were true.

Motive Under Watch

Authorities are still exploring whether Robinson’s relationship with Twiggs played any role in the motive. Kirk, 31, was a vocal critic of transgender policies and gender-reassignment procedures, which has led investigators to probe whether ideological or personal grievances triggered the attack. Governor Cox stated that Robinson appeared to be “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” but emphasised that the motive remains under investigation.
