A shocking scene has come out of Houston, Texas, where Jessie Mobley Jr, 34, passed away after falling over at a neighbourhood steakhouse. The Houston Police Department stated that Mobley had collapsed at his table at KFFO Afro Steakhouse on August 7 following his meal. Instead of calling 911, staff reportedly carried him outside along with his personal belongings and left him propped against a nearby building adjacent to a hair and beauty college in the Eldridge/West Oaks neighbourhood. First responders pronounced him dead shortly after 9 am the following morning.

Media reports revealed that staff at the restaurant never called emergency services since they presumed Mobley was homeless. He was found the following morning by a student on her way to the nearby beauty school, and police have since opened an investigation into the cause of his death. The authorities are yet to receive results from the post-mortem examination to confirm the actual cause of death.

Family Speaks Out

Mobley's family was outraged at the way the restaurant handled the situation. His aunt, Charlene Fogg-Drake, said to the Houston Chronicle, "Why didn't you call 911? I feel like people need to be accountable for it, I really do." His parents explained the horrific state of his body when they finally were able to view him, saying his skin had turned dark, one side had purpled, and ants were walking on his ears.

The Mirror and the New York Post reported that Mobley supposedly dozed off at his table prior to being rolled outside and abandoned. Mobley had been staying with relatives and was not homeless, so the assumptions of the staff were especially tragic.

Houston police said the investigation could close if the post-mortem reveals natural causes. The case has already caused widespread attention, given the horrific circumstances and raises important questions regarding how companies handle medical emergencies.
