Brooklyn Park (US): At least one person in a small plane travelling from Iowa to Minnesota died after the aircraft crashed into a house in a Minneapolis suburb Saturday, news agency AP reported. The residents of the home were not hurt, Brooklyn Park spokesperson Risikat Adesaogun said. But the house was destroyed.

It was not yet known how many people were aboard the single-engine SOCATA TBM7, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. However, all the people on board were killed, officials said in a press conference. The agency said the aircraft departed from the Des Moines International Airport with a destination of the Anoka County-Blaine Airport, located in another Minneapolis suburb. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

Plane crash incidents in US

Notably, the US has seen an uptick in plane crashes-like incidents in recent months. Earlier in the second week of this month, a single-engine aeroplane carrying five people crashed and burst into flames in the parking lot of a retirement community near a small airport in suburban Pennsylvania. Luckily, everyone on board survived.

Similarly, at least one person was killed after a plane crashed at Marana Regional Airport in Arizona, prompting a swift response from emergency services. The Marana Police Department confirmed the fatality and stated that both the National Aviation Authority and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) launched an investigation into the incident. As of now, authorities have not disclosed details about the aircraft involved or the cause of the crash.

The crash at Marana Regional Airport, located northwest of Tucson, comes just two days after a Delta Airlines flight flipped over in Toronto, leaving passengers stranded upside down with smoke filling the cabin. While all 80 passengers were evacuated, 19 of the 21 hospitalised have since been discharged.

Deadly mid-air collision

The Marana crash adds to a series of recent aviation incidents, including a fiery crash-landing in Toronto, a fatal air ambulance crash in Philadelphia on January 31, and a deadly midair collision between an Army helicopter and a commercial plane, which claimed 67 lives, the worst US air disaster in nearly 25 years.
