Samsung Announces OneUI 6.0 Beta For Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, But Takes Swift U-Turn | Details

Soon after announcing OneUI 6.0 based on Android 14 for Galaxy S23 series phones, the South Korean giant took back a newsroom post from its German arm. As per reports, the beta program was about to start this month and arrive on the latest flagship S series.

According to 9To5Google, the eligible models in the S23 lineup include Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. As per the information, the program went live in the United States, Korea and Germany. The new ROM, based on Android 14 OS, will bring enhanced customisation options for apps and an overall revamped UI design.

From the screengrab shared in the newsroom post (now taken down), the biggest upgrade is visible in the notification centre with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles expanding horizontally to capture a single row in Quick Settings. A brightness slider is visible below the traditional switches. The new toggle can be opened with a single swipe down at the top right, an improvement from the double swipe mechanism currently.

Besides this, the S23 users can "set background images for the appropriate situations". For instance, a forest photo during sleep mode. "A new camera widget also makes it possible to specify the storage location for certain photos in advance," Samsung added.

However, according to SamMobile, the program is not accepting sign up right now. Once it is available, the software will be made accessible via the Samsung Members app.

A reader must note that Samsung was swift to delete the post just after publishing it from the German newsroom. We do not have any updates about the release of the ROM in India yet. However, considering the past track record, OneUI 6 beta will release soon after its global debut.
