The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a large-scale campaign to stop the incidents of stubble burning in the state. The government has made arrangements to provide free bio-decomposers and subsidized agricultural implements to the farmers for crop residue management.

According to the presentation of the Agriculture Department before the Chief Secretary, the government has provided a 50 per cent subsidy on single agricultural equipment for crop residue management. The officials also stated that 44,363 single agricultural equipment have been distributed and 4,439 more have been approved for 2023-24.

The government has also distributed 7,621 forms for agricultural equipment under the head of FPO, Cooperative Society and Gram Panchayat. In addition, the government has distributed 13,22,250 bio decomposers last year and set a target to distribute 17 lakh bio decomposers in 2023-24. So far, 1,66,600 bio decomposers are in the supply process in 2023-24.

The government has also ensured effective action by coordinating among the officials of various departments like sugarcane, basic education, revenue, rural development, Panchayati Raj, local bodies, police, transport and agriculture.

The government has publicized the crop residue-based units established in the district or in the neighbouring districts to ensure the supply of stubble. Village, Nyaya Panchayat, development block, tehsil and district-level task forces have also been formed to monitor and prevent stubble burning.
