Abdullah Azam Passport Forgery Case:  In yet another blow to Samajwadi Party heavyweight Azam Khan and his family, a special MP/MLA court on Friday sentenced his son Abdullah Azam Khan to seven years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 in a 2019 case involving possession and use of two passports with different dates of birth.

Abdullah was the sole accused in the passport forgery case. He was taken into custody immediately after the verdict and sent to jail, where his father, Azam Khan, is already lodged in a separate dual PAN card case.

Abdullah Azam's Short Political Career

Abdullah Azam entered politics in 2017 and was elected MLA twice, from Suar (2017) and Suar (2022), but lost both seats after courts disqualified him over age discrepancies in his election documents.

After the SP government fell in 2017, a flurry of cases were registered against the family. In 2019 alone, 42 fresh FIRs were filed against Abdullah in Rampur district, while old cases were revived. In total, he has faced 43 criminal cases, of which 41 are still pending in various courts.
