Even as the allotment of plots to 22 allottees was cancelled for not paying crores in the first phase of the Raptinagar Housing Scheme, they still occupied the same plots. On Tuesday, when the enforcement team of the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) arrived to vacate the possession, some asked for time citing the festival of Diwali, while others claimed to pay the dues within two to four days.

The authority's team, adopting a humanitarian approach, returned after giving everyone a seven-day grace period. GDA Vice President Anand Vardhan Singh stated that if the outstanding dues are not paid or the possession is not vacated within the stipulated time, strict action will be taken against the concerned allottees, and the possession will be vacated with the assistance of the police force.

He stated that the allottees have been granted a long extension of time. However, they have not paid their dues, prompting a decision to take strict action. The team will visit everyone's homes and vacate the plots and flats belonging to those whose allotments have been cancelled. These properties will be re-auctioned.
