In a bizarre case of fraud, a girl duped her maternal uncle of Rs 43.5 lakh after convincing him that she had connections in the Petroleum Ministry and therefore, she could secure a petrol pump for him.

The incident took place under the Nehtaur Police Station limits of Bijnor district, and the case dates back to 2021.

The fraud came to light after the girl absconded with the money, and the victim neither got his money nor the petrol pump materialized. The victim then sought legal assistance, upon which the matter reached court, and the registration of an FIR was ordered against the girl.

The accused girl has been identified as Nita, who took money from her maternal uncle on the pretext of securing a petrol pump in 2021.

What did the complainat say?

The victim, Chandrapal Singh, is a resident of Durga Vihar colony in Nehtaur police station limits. In his complaint, he alleged that his niece, Nita, who resides in Bijnor's Hardaspur Garhi Village, visited his home on January 10, 2021.

She was accompanied by her husband, brother-in-law, father-in-law, and other individuals. The complainant asserted that Niota claimed their relative named Mohit Gupta, held an important post in the Petroleum Ministry and could help in securing the license of a petrol pump.

Neice arranges fuel pump, tanker

The accused persuaded him and took Rs 5 lakh from him as an advance. Chandrapal Singh transferred a total of Rs 43.5 lakh online through net banking at several occasions.

To eliminate any possibility of suspicion and convince her uncle further, the niece reportedly arranged for a petrol tank and fuel machine and installed the tank underground at his property on March 31, 2022. However, the victim got suspicious as time lapsed but nothing mterialised.
