A group of young men were caught on camera attempting to deceive a restaurant in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, by placing a meat bone in a plate of vegetable biryani in an apparent effort to avoid paying the bill.

The incident took place on the night of July 31 at Biryani Bay, a restaurant located at Shastri Chowk in the Cantonment Police Station area.

According to reports, a group of eight to ten men visited the restaurant and ordered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian biryani. Soon after the food was served, one of the men began shouting that there was a bone in his vegetarian biryani. In response, the restaurant staff contacted the police, who arrived at the scene to defuse the situation and review CCTV footage.

The footage revealed one of the men discreetly passing a bone to another, who then placed it in the veg biryani dish. Restaurant owner Ravikar Singh confirmed that the men had deliberately planted the bone. Another video shows the group insisting to the restaurant staff that bones were found in their vegetarian meal.

In the video, one of the men can be heard saying, "Veg mei haddi nikli hai. Koi safai nahi hai yaha pe" (There’s a bone in the veg dish; there’s no cleanliness here), as they accuse the restaurant of lacking proper hygiene. However, restaurant owner Ravikar Singh refuted the claims, stating that contamination was impossible since meat is prepared separately in his kitchen.

"They clearly wanted to avoid paying the bill, which was around Rs 5,000-6,000. Their actions were completely deliberate," Singh told the police.

Cantonment Circle Officer Yogendra Singh confirmed that legal proceedings are currently underway in the case.
