Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched the Samarth Uttar Pradesh campaign at Lok Bhavan, aimed at achieving the Vision-2047 goal of a developed Uttar Pradesh. Addressing an orientation workshop for eminent persons, the Chief Minister emphasised that if UP could transform from a Bimaru state to the country’s second-largest economy in eight years, the Vision-2047 objectives are attainable.

CM Yogi stated, “In eight years, we have turned despair into enthusiasm. Now, we must prepare our youth and collectively decide the future of India and UP.” He said the campaign aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolution for a developed India, and all 25 crore residents of the state are to be engaged as partners in this initiative.

The campaign will focus on gathering suggestions from citizens through seminars, QR codes, and the Samarth Uttar Pradesh portal. Contributions will cover 12 key sectors: agriculture, livestock, industry, IT, tourism, urban-rural development, infrastructure, balanced growth, social welfare, health, education, security, and governance. Suggestions will be evaluated by subject experts and the NITI Aayog, with the most impactful ideas being recognised at district and state levels.

The first phase of the campaign will include seminars in academic institutions with eminent persons, followed by conferences led by central and state ministers. MPs, MLAs, and retired officials will also participate in public awareness and consultation programmes. Pledges will be taken in gram panchayats and municipal wards, and citizens’ feedback will be collected using QR codes installed in public places, schools, and colleges.

Highlighting the state’s economic growth, CM Yogi said, “From 1947 to 1960, UP contributed 14 per cent to India’s GDP, which had fallen to 8 per cent by 2016-17. Today, UP is the country’s second-largest economy, with GSDP expected to rise from Rs 13 lakh crore to Rs 35 lakh crore this year, and per capita income also increasing.”

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “UP has abundant resources, and we will pursue all-round development with people’s participation.” Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak added, “A state-wide discourse is essential for a developed UP, which will play a major role in making India a developed nation.”

Ministers Swatantra Dev Singh and Surya Pratap Shahi, Acting Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, and Principal Secretaries Alok Kumar and Sanjay Prasad were also present.

The campaign will run from September 5 to October 5, 2025, with over 400 eminent persons touring districts to collect public feedback, and nodal officers appointed at the district and government levels to facilitate the process.
