Meerut Dalit Woman Murder Case: Chandrashekhar Azad, the MP from Nagina Lok Sabha constituency and chief of the Azad Samaj Party, who was travelling from Delhi to Meerut, was stopped by the Ghaziabad police on NH 9. Azad was en route to Meerut, where a Dalit woman was murdered, and her daughter was abducted. The MP attempted to meet the family members of the victim.

Lane Of The Delhi-Meerut Expressway Blocked

To prevent him from going to Meerut, the police have closed the Delhi-bound lane of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near Vedanta Farm House. All traffic from the DME and NH-9 was diverted towards Hapur. This has caused a traffic jam on NH-9 and the DME.

Police said the Kashi Toll Plaza in Meerut has been closed for vehicles coming from Delhi, which is why vehicles are not being allowed to proceed towards Meerut from Ghaziabad.

Earlier, there was an altercation between Azad and the police at the UP border. Senior police officers, including the DCP Rural and DCP Trans Hindon, were present on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in Bhojpur. Every vehicle was being checked. The queue of vehicles has extended beyond Kalchhina. Hundreds of vehicles are stuck in the jam. A large number of police personnel have been deployed to prevent people from entering Uttar Pradesh from Delhi.

What Is The Matter?

The incident involves the murder of a Dalit woman and the abduction of her daughter in Meerut. Chandrashekhar was going to Meerut to meet the victim's family. According to police, the incident took place on Thursday morning when Sunita Jatav and her 20-year-old daughter were allegedly stopped in the nearby fields by the accused, identified as Paras, who struck the mother with a sugarcane sickle before abducting the daughter. Villagers alerted the family, and the injured woman was rushed to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Family Refuses To Perform Last rites, Demands Safe Return Of Girl

Meanwhile, Grief simmered in Kapsad village in Sardhana on Friday following the murder of a Dalit woman and the alleged abduction of her daughter. The deceased woman was cremated late in the evening following several hours of negotiations between the grieving family and the administration.

Earlier, the family had refused to perform the last rites, demanding arrest of the accused and strict action against alleged illegal constructions by them in the area, and seeking safe recovery of the missing daughter.
