The district is in the headlines following the arrest of Dr Farooq Ahmad Dar, an Assistant Professor in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at GS Medical College in Pilkhuwa, Hapur. He was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell late on Wednesday night after receiving information from a terrorist named Muzammil.
According to police sources, Dr Farooq was allegedly preparing a terror module in the district by associating with major terrorist organisations.
Allegations And Investigation
Police allege that Dr Farooq was "writing a 'prescription for terror'" under the guise of being a doctor at the medical college. He is accused of conspiring to brainwash students and connect them to the terror module.
Security agencies believe Farooq was using the medical profession as a cover. The investigation has also found clues linking the doctor to the Delhi bomb blasts, including a potential role in the supply of explosives and networking. Consequently, the district police are taking the matter seriously.
It is believed that several major secrets will be revealed during his interrogation, and some of his accomplices may also be exposed soon.
Professional Background
Dr Farooq had previously worked at Al Falah University in Faridabad from October 6, 2022, to April 5, 2024.
He joined GS Medical College as a Senior Resident on April 6, 2024, and was later promoted to Assistant Professor. While living on campus, he remained active in medical and other departmental work, but colleagues were reportedly unfamiliar with his personal life.
Inquiry Expands To Medical College
Following Dr Farooq's arrest, the investigation is widening, and action may be taken against students and staff at GS Medical College.
On Thursday, officers from the Pilkhuwa police station visited the college to gather information related to Farooq. SP Gyananjay Singh stated that efforts are being made to find out who Farooq was in contact with in the area. Other staff members may also be investigated as part of the inquiry.
