Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: Ahead of the 80th Independence Day, the Delhi Police and all central security agencies are on high alert over security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations. Following the emergence of a “Delhi connection” to a Pakistan-backed ISI terror module arrested by Amritsar Police last week, the Special Cell has further intensified its activities, including continuous monitoring of social media.
Calls originating from Pakistan are being traced and monitored, while informers have been put on alert. Security agencies suspect that the ISI could use the Shahzad Bhatti module to carry out a terror attack in Delhi before August 15 with the aim of creating an atmosphere of fear.

According to Jagran.com, citing Special Cell sources, alleged terrorist Dev Singh had instructed Vishal alias Gangu to travel to Delhi. Rs 2,000 was reportedly arranged through a local shopkeeper to cover his travel expenses.
On the evening of July 25, Vansh Kumar, Vishal, Rohit, Dev Singh and Sukhdeep Singh allegedly gathered at Amritsar Railway Station. They then boarded a train for New Delhi and, after arriving at New Delhi Railway Station, proceeded directly to Jantar Mantar.
At Jantar Mantar, they allegedly met an unidentified suspicious person from Uttar Pradesh who, according to investigators, had been sent by a Pakistani handler.
Eight Glass Bottles Allegedly Handed Over
The suspected handler allegedly handed over eight glass bottles to the group and instructed them to target Delhi Police personnel deployed at Jantar Mantar, as well as Army and paramilitary personnel, using petrol bombs.
From Jantar Mantar, one of the alleged terrorists also reportedly contacted a handler based in Pakistan. Following the revelations, a team of the Special Cell is currently stationed in Amritsar as part of the investigation.
The Special Cell team is examining hundreds of CCTV recordings from New Delhi Railway Station to Jantar Mantar to verify the suspects’ movements and establish the identity of the alleged Uttar Pradesh-based handler.
Police are working jointly with the Punjab Police to gather evidence related to the suspects’ activities, their alleged contacts in Uttar Pradesh, the route they took to reach Jantar Mantar, and other forensic and technical evidence.
