Villagers from several gram panchayats, merged into development authorities under the promise of urbanisation, are being denied access to government pension schemes across Gautam Buddh Nagar. The issue arises because the names of these villages are missing from the District Social Welfare Department’s online portal, preventing residents from applying for benefits.
District Magistrate Medha Rupam has written to officials of the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna authorities, requesting a complete list of the affected villages. Over 200 villages from Gautam Buddh Nagar were included in these authorities’ jurisdictions, but many of their names are absent from the social welfare portal.

Residents trying to apply online for various schemes, including old-age pensions, the National Family Benefit Scheme, and marriage grants, have been unable to locate their villages, prompting some to lodge complaints on the IGRS portal. During a review of these complaints, Social Welfare Department officials explained the cause of the problem.
Taking the matter seriously, the DM has sought details, including the tehsil, notified village names, and their respective sector, from the three authorities. District Social Welfare Officer Satish Kumar stated that the portal will be updated once the village list is received, ensuring all eligible beneficiaries can access government schemes.
