Gautam Budh Nagar, Greater Noida, announced a district-wide Yoga Week from June 15 to 20, ahead of the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, in accordance with guidelines issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, district officials announced.

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma chaired a preparatory meeting at the collectorate on Thursday, directing relevant officials to ensure all arrangements are in place through effective inter-departmental coordination.
Who All Will Volunteer In Yoga Week
Students, NCC and NSS cadets, volunteers from NGOs and yoga institutes, entrepreneurs, and local residents will take part in daily morning yoga sessions, officials said.
“We should aim for mass participation and a spirit of teamwork. Yoga sessions will be organised in schools, colleges, panchayats, block and tehsil headquarters, and public parks. Daily sessions during Yoga Week should follow the common yoga protocol under trained instructors,” the DM said.
Places Where International Yoga Day Will Conduct In Noida
The main International Yoga Day celebration on June 21 will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. at various locations across the district, including parks and public grounds, from the panchayat level to block, tehsil, and district headquarters. Trained yoga instructors will oversee the sessions, officials said.
Special emphasis has been placed on organizing yoga activities at culturally significant sites and scenic locations near rivers such as the Yamuna and Hindon, as well as at lakes, ponds, and Amrit Sarovars.
The DM also encouraged the incorporation of the “Harit Yoga” initiative, where participants will plant a tree while practicing yoga to promote environmental awareness.
“Special sites like the Yamuna and Hindon riverbanks, historical locations, and scenic ponds and lakes must be prioritised for hosting sessions, keeping tourism promotion in mind. The concept of Harit Yoga should be highlighted, alongside yoga practice, every participant must plant at least one sapling, combining wellness with environmental responsibility,” the DM added.
Development Of Dedicated Yoga Parks And Youth Engagement Initiatives
The District Magistrate proposed identifying two parks in the district to be developed as dedicated “Yoga Parks” for year-round activities. These parks will feature lasting infrastructure to preserve and promote the legacy of the International Day of Yoga. In addition to this, officials have been directed to engage the youth by organizing national and international social media-based yoga competitions, encouraging participants to share their progress online and foster a vibrant yoga community.
The meeting participants included officials from the Ayurvedic and Unani departments, the education department, senior yoga instructors, and other key stakeholders.
