Ghaziabad Cyber Crime News: In yet another case of cybercrime, an Indirapuram resident was duped of Rs 45 lakh by the fraudsters who had assured Pushpendra Singh (the victim) of hefty profit through share market trading. The officials stated that the victim had transferred the amount to different bank accounts between March 31 and April 12. They further stated that while the victim sought his money back, the fraudsters demanded more money, compelling the victim to lodge a police complaint.
While providing details, the police stated that the victim was earlier added to a WhatsApp group where he received tips regarding investment. The group had a total of 111 members and two admins, and the accused had claimed that they were the members of a reputed stock market brokerage firm. The fraudsters asked the victim to download an app to allegedly increase the profit rates.
However, Pushpendra Singh received an email claiming that a loan worth Rs 20 lakh was sanctioned against his name, adding that the amount was linked to his trading app account. The victim informed the officials that he had not received any such amount; however, he was not allowed to exit from the app and was asked to deposit an additional 20.30 lakh rupees to withdraw his money.
The victim denied paying the additional amount and lodged a complaint at the police station, demanding strong action against the fraudsters. ADCP crime branch Piyush Kumar Singh stated that the Cyber Crime Police Station has registered a case and is investigating the matter.
He further stated that the officials are collecting information regarding the bank accounts in which the money was transferred. He assured that strong action will be taken against the fraudsters, adding that the victim will get his money back.
