Arvind Kumar Yadav, the Assistant Commissioner (Food Safety) posted in Ghaziabad, has been suspended with immediate effect following serious allegations of corruption, arbitrary enforcement, and harassment of traders.
During his suspension period, Yadav has been attached to the office of the Commissioner of the Food Safety and Drug Administration in Lucknow.
Reasons For Suspension
The suspension order, issued on Monday by Secretary Dr Roshan Jacob, cites several grave lapses in Yadav's conduct:
Misuse of Power for Personal Gain: The order states that Yadav misused his authority under the pretext of improving food quality. He allegedly conducted arbitrary raids on shops and warehouses of business owners, acting contrary to departmental rules for his "personal interest and gain."
Harassment Of Traders: Instead of taking effective action against actual adulteration, Yadav is accused of harassing business owners through mere formalities. These actions reportedly caused significant losses to traders in the food products business.
Failure Of Duty: It is alleged that no effective steps were actually taken to maintain the quality of food products in the district.

Violation Of Government Policy
The Secretary noted that the Assistant Commissioner's actions were tarnishing the department's image and were in direct violation of the state government's zero-tolerance policy on corruption. Consequently, disciplinary action has been initiated alongside his immediate suspension.
