The police on Friday rescued a 14-year-old girl who had gone missing from a village under the Niwari police station limits. A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the case on charges of abduction and rape.
The Incident
The victim, a school student, went missing under suspicious circumstances a few days ago. After searching the vicinity to no avail, her family members filed a complaint at the local police station. Acting on the complaint, the police initially registered a case against an unknown person under the sections relevant to kidnapping.
Rescue And Investigation
During the investigation, the police traced the missing girl on Friday. She was found in the company of the accused, identified as Giriraj, a resident of Pachera village in the Mehgaon police station area of Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh.
Upon questioning, the minor revealed that the accused had abducted her, held her captive in a room, and sexually assaulted her. Following her statement, the police added rape charges to the existing FIR.
Modus Operandi
Investigations revealed that a relative of the accused runs a gol-gappe (street food) stall in the victim's village. The girl's mother was a frequent visitor to the stall, and it was at this location that the accused first saw the girl.

Police Action
ACP Modinagar confirmed that the accused, Giriraj, has been arrested and subsequently sent to jail. The victim has been sent for a medical examination, and further legal action is currently underway.
