The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has cleared 5,500 square metres of land in Kaila Bhatta, previously encroached upon, to construct a banquet hall and 15 shops for residents. The move is expected to benefit the area’s population of approximately 1.5 lakh people.

The land had been illegally occupied by Haji Khalil, who had built and rented out shops, collecting significant sums in rent. The corporation demolished the unauthorised structures and completed 10 out of the planned 15 shops, which will now be available for public use and contribute to municipal revenue.

A banquet hall will also be constructed on the site, addressing the lack of open spaces for weddings and other events in this densely populated area. The hall will be available to residents for a nominal fee.

Mayor Sunita Dayal, along with Municipal Corporation officials, inspected the land and directed a survey for a boundary wall. She noted that a path to the Markaz Mosque has been preserved in consideration of the Muslim community, and a wazukhana (ablution area) will also be constructed.
