A 27-year-old man, who molested and killed his seven-year-old niece was arrested and injured in a shootout with Ghaziabad Police on Saturday. The accused, identified as Imran, tried to flee after snatching the pistol of a police officer and fired shots at them. The police retaliated and shot him in the leg, before sending him to the hospital for treatment.
The incident took place in Ghaziabad, where the accused strangled his niece to death after molesting her. According to police, information was received about the crime on Saturday following which they registered an FIR under appropriate sections and the accused was arrested.

The accused was taken to MMG Hospital for a medical examination, where he attempted to escape by attacking the police. “After undergoing the medical examination, while bringing the accused back, he attempted to snatch a pistol from a police officer present with him and fired shots during this attempt,” said a senior police official as quoted by news agency IANS.

In response to this threat, the police resorted to retaliatory firing and the accused was hit in the leg, causing him to be injured. A senior police official said that the accused was admitted to the hospital for treatment and further action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
