The process of approving house and building plans in Uttar Pradesh has resumed online after weeks of disruption. The Online Building Permission System (OBPS), which had been facing technical glitches across several urban local bodies, including the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), is now operational again.

Due to the system malfunction, many applicants were unable to secure approvals, forcing them to pause construction projects. To prevent delays, the state government had permitted manual submission of building plans until November 30.

GDA Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed that although the manual approval window remains open until the end of the month, the online platform has been restored and applications are once again being processed digitally. He said the government aims to ensure transparency and convenience in the entire approval process.

To further accelerate and simplify the system, the state government has begun developing FastPass - Fast and Simplified Trust Plan Approval System. The all-digital platform will function on a self-certification model for small plots, which is expected to significantly reduce approval time and improve efficiency.
