With Diwali and Chhath approaching, the North Eastern Railway has completed preparations to manage the anticipated surge of passengers at Gorakhpur Junction. In case of overcrowding, booking of platform and general tickets may be temporarily suspended, and passengers may be stopped at the gates if capacity is exceeded. Entry without a valid ticket will be strictly prohibited.
A war room has been set up at the station to monitor operations 24/7, and railway personnel have been assigned round-the-clock duties. A detailed vehicle and gate management plan has been put in place: passengers will enter through gates 2, 4, 6, and 7, while gates 1, 5, and 7 will serve as exits. Gate 3 remains closed, and in case of high crowd density, the station premises will be made vehicle-free.
To avoid overcrowding on platforms, passengers will be held in designated holding areas. Those boarding trains originating from Gorakhpur will be allowed onto platforms 30 minutes before departure, while passengers of passing trains like Vaishali, Saptkranti, and Bihar Sampark Kranti Express will be permitted 20 minutes prior. Special trains will operate from platforms 1, 2, and 9.
Parcels will be managed efficiently to prevent obstruction, with incoming consignments moved out immediately and outbound parcels brought to platforms on schedule. Additional staff have been deployed for both passenger and parcel management.

Security forces, along with station officials and employees, will monitor gates, foot overbridges, ticket counters, and holding areas to ensure smooth passenger movement and provide assistance when needed. Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasised that “special attention is being given to passenger safety and the smooth operation of trains, ensuring minimal inconvenience during the festival rush.”
