According to Mahesh Chandra, Assistant Regional Manager, Gorakhpur Depot, the first day saw 44 passengers, of whom 41 were travelling directly to Lucknow, reflecting strong passenger interest.
Officials said the new route via the Link Expressway reduces travel time by two hours compared to the traditional Basti-Ayodhya route, where buses take up to seven hours due to multiple stops. Although the distance via the Link Expressway is 40 km longer, the absence of intermediate halts ensures faster travel. The fare is Rs 42 higher than the standard route.
