Gorakhpur Link Expressway Launch: Uttar Pradesh Chief Yogi Adityanath on Friday inaugurated the Gorakhpur Link Expressway in Azamgarh, which will connect several districts, including Azamgarh, to Gorakhpur.

Yogi Adityanath also travelled on the expressway with his convoy.

With the start of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, it will take less than an hour to travel the 91.35-kilometre distance. It takes commuters three and a half hours to go to the state capital of Lucknow from Gorakhpur via Azamgarh, where it joins the Purvanchal Expressway.

Hailing his government in the state, Yogi Adityanath said that it is working towards fulfilling the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by the year 2046. CM Yogi asserted that Uttar Pradesh has changed its reputation and has become a state of "expressways" from a "bimaru" state.

"The work on the Agra Lucknow Expressway was half done. Today I am happy to tell you that we have completed six projects. You are witnessing the journey of the Purvanchal Expressway. We are continuously building it since 2021. In 2022, the Bundelkhand Expressway has been started. It is 300 km long. The 340 km long Purvanchal Expressway has already been completed and its connectivity to Patna is about to be completed. Now remember how easy the connectivity from Patna to Lucknow and Lucknow to Delhi will become", CM Yogi said.

The architecture of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway prioritises safety. The expressway will be patrolled by a specialised safety fleet of SUVs operated by skilled former military personnel, who will respond quickly to any crisis. Every 45 kilometres, ambulances will be positioned, and cranes and hydraulic trucks will be on standby to react quickly to any accidents or vehicle breakdowns.

An Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), including CCTV cameras, speed monitors, and automated number plate recognition technologies, will be installed on the expressway.

The CM will navigate the new roadway, conduct a plantation drive close to the toll plaza, flag off a dedicated safety fleet, visit photo galleries at both locations, and examine important locations, such as the Kamharighat bridge.
