Gorakhpur Link Expressway Project Update: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday inaugurated the much-hyped Gorakhpur Link Expressway, providing a major boost to the regional connectivity. The 91 kilometer-long expressway is constructed at a cost of Rs 7283.28 crore and will massively benefit the residents of Gorakhpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Azamgarh. The expressway will significantly cut the travel time and will reduce the traffic congestion. Apart from this, the expressway is also likely to boost the financial activities in these districts.
CM Yogi Adityanath stated that the state has witnessed significant development in the past eight years. "The double engine government of the BJP is working to fulfil the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047...Uttar Pradesh has now made its reputation as a state with expressways from a 'Bimaru' state...Eight years ago, people were afraid to take the name of Azamgarh, UP. Azamgarh has now joined the path of development. Purvanchal Expressway was inaugurated by PM Modi in 2021", CM Yogi stated.
The expressway is expected to boost employment and financial activities in multiple districts, as there will be an industrial corridor on both sides of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The expressway is a four-lane expressway that connects Jaitpur village of Gorakhpur to Salarpur village near Mile Stone 191 on Purvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh district. The expressway will also reduce the travel time to the capital city, Lucknow, providing major relief to the residents of these districts.

The architecture of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway prioritises safety. The expressway will be patrolled by a specialised safety fleet of SUVs operated by skilled former military personnel, who will respond quickly to any crisis. Every 45 kilometers, ambulances will be positioned, and cranes and hydraulic trucks will be on standby to react quickly to any accidents or vehicle breakdowns.
An Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), including CCTV cameras, speed monitors, and automated number plate recognition technologies, will be installed on the expressway.
