Greater Noida: A station master, who was traveling in a car by following GPS direction, died after it crashed into a 30-feet-deep drain. The accident took place in Greater Noida, near P-4 Sector and has been attributed to the alleged negligence of the authorities and wrong navigation.

According to reports, when police arrived at the site, they pulled the station master from the the drain. He was taken to the hospital right away, but his injuries claimed his life. Later, the officials used a crane to rescue the car from the drain.

Bharat Bhati, the deceased, was a Mandawali, Delhi resident stationed at Manesar. According to his brother, Dilip Bhati, Bharat called to say he was heading to a wedding in Girdharpur, Greater Noida, but was having problems finding the directions. He had typed the destination into GPS and was following the travel directions.

According to Saurav, a delivery worker who was on the site at the time, the accident happened close to Kendriya Vihar 2 Society, near the P-4 area. He said that at around 2:30 pm, as he was standing close by, a vehicle rushed and crashed straight into the drain. The driver may have been using GPS, Saurav speculated.

Dilip Bhati, the brother of Bharat Bhati, has accused the authorities of being responsible for the tragedy. He said, “We are in trouble right now, but later we will demand action against the authority. Because there is no signboard here. Also, no barricading has been done."

Locals allege increased risk in the region, noting many accidents. The road abruptly ends, leading right into an open drain. Authorities apparently made no previous safety plans. Following the crash, the police arrived on scene. They then placed barriers surrounding the area.
