After accelerating its residential and industrial sectors, the Yamuna Authority (YEIDA) has intensified efforts to develop the institutional sector. Allottees have been asked to provide time-bound information on construction and a timeline for making the institutions operational.

The authority's initiative comes as a lack of operational institutions is seen as a hurdle to the city's overall development. Institutional activities are considered crucial for supporting the residential and industrial sectors, as residents in the residential areas will need educational institutions and hospitals.

Despite numerous allotments, progress has been slow:

Sector 17A: Under the Mini SDZ scheme, plots were allotted to 13 educational institutions, but only two universities are currently operational.

Sector 22E: In this institutional category, more than 200 plots have been allotted, but not a single institution has become operational to date.

Residential Sectors: The situation is the same for institutional plots allotted in residential sectors, where no institutions are yet operational.

YEIDA's OSD, Shailendra Bhatia, stated that a letter has been sent to all allottees in the institutional category requesting an action plan. They have been asked to specify, in a time-bound manner, when they will complete construction on the plot and make the institution operational.

Allottees for whom the stipulated construction period on allotted plots has expired have also been instructed to complete the work and obtain an operational certificate at the earliest.
