A serious incident has come to light in Hapur town, where a stray bovine was set on fire by pouring petrol on it near the old police station. As the incident occurred in an area populated by a different community, the police have deployed a force as a precautionary measure. Following the incident, Hindu organisations have expressed strong resentment and demanded strict action against the accused.
According to reports, local residents often tie their livestock in the premises of the old police station and the surrounding areas. For the past several days, a stray bovine had been eating the fodder kept for these animals, which had caused resentment among some livestock owners.
On Wednesday evening, acting on this anger, an individual allegedly poured petrol on the animal and set it on fire. Engulfed in flames, the injured animal ran screaming towards the market platform (Paith Chabutra), causing panic and chaos in the entire market.

Upon receiving the information, the police force arrived at the scene, while members of Hindu organisations also gathered there. The bovine, which was severely scorched by the fire, ran towards the fields. Police personnel and members of the Cow Protection Squad are currently searching for the animal to provide medical treatment. Since the incident took place in an area with a high population of another community, there is significant anger among the villagers.
Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Chauhan stated that the matter is being investigated with all seriousness, and strict action will be taken against the guilty.
