In a major twist in Kanpur Lamborghini crash case, the lawyer of Tobacco tycoon's son Shivam Mishra has claimed that his client was not driving the car when the accident took place.
He claimed that the high-end car was being driven by Shivam's driver Mohan, describing the incident as an accident.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Shivam's lawyer said, "The hearing proceedings will be held tomorrow. Shivam was not driving; his driver, Mohan, was. This is an accident case. When he was not driving, then there can be no case against him".
The accident took place on Sunday on the VIP road near Rev-3 Mall in the Gwaltoli area. At least six people were injured when the high-speed Lamborghini rammed into pedestrians, an auto-rickshaw and parked two-wheelers.

The lawyer's statement is contradictory to the findings of police investigation. Earlier in the day, Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said Shivam was drivig the case and he was pulled out of the car by his bouncers after the accident.
Speaking to the media, he said, "We have found the details of the car. The car has been seized. The car was driven by Shivam Mishra. His father is KK Mishra. After the accident, Shivam Mishra's bouncers pulled him out of the car. It is being said that he has some medical issues. The FIR of the accident was registered earlier, and now, in our investigation, we have learned that the name of the driver is Shivam Mishra."
According to officials, the Lamborghini first hit an auto-rickshaw. Thereafter it rammed into a Royal Enfield motorcycle parked nearby.
The hit left the rider flinging several metres. The car then crashed into an electric pole. The car is registered in the name of KK Mishra, the tobacco tycoon and father of accused Shivam.
