Kanpur Ring Road Construction Update: The ring road project in Kanpur is being constructed in four packages. Package 2-A of the 93 km long ring road could not be finalized due to technical reasons. After this, the process of retendering was started. As per NHAI officials, the construction work will be started as soon as the tender for package 2-A is finalized in the next one month. In this package, construction work is to be done from Mandhna to Transganga City. The tender for this package, which is about 8 km long, has not been finalized for four months, jagran.com reported.

93.20 Km Ring Road Is Being Constructed Around City

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is constructing a 93.20 km ring road around the city. In package one, the road is being built from Sachendi to Maharajpur and package four from Jarkala to Pakri via Defense Corridor. In package two-B, construction is going on for 19 km from Transganga City to Lucknow Expressway via Unnao-Shuklaganj.

Under package two-A, construction of an 8 km stretch from Mandhana-Bithoor to Transganga City is to be done. A budget of Rs 972 crore will be spent on the construction of this package. NHAI is spending Rs 98 crore 54 lakh in this for purchasing land. Tenders were issued for the construction of this package in February, but the tender was cancelled due to technical flaws, after which the engineers of NHAI were disappointed. However, the retendering process for this package started in March, which is now being finalised. As per Engineers, after finalizing the tender for the package within a month, construction work will be started.

700 Hectares Of Land Was Acquired

NHAI has acquired 700 hectares of land for the construction of the ring road. The tender was issued after the process of acquiring the land of Package Two A was completed. The central government is spending a budget of Rs 40 billion 77 crore for the construction of this project. NHAI engineers said that the work of the ring road project will be completed in the year 2027.

“Construction work is being carried out at a fast pace in three packages of the ring road. The retendering process of package two-A is almost final. The target is to start construction on this package in a month. The construction of the ring road will be completed on time,” said NHAI, Project Director, Pankaj Yadav, as quoted by jagran.com.
