Karnataka Weather: According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, rainfall activity is set to increase across the state from May 12, Monday. This will continue till May 19, as per the weather body. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is forecast through May 16. The areas that will be affected include - the coastal, north interior, and south interior regions. However, there will be no major change in the maximum temperature across Karnataka for the next few days. Weather conditions are expected to remain mixed in Karnataka over the next few days, with some areas seeing sunshine and others dealing with thunderstorms.

“The north-south trough from North Interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar now extends from Marathwada to the Gulf of Mannar, passing through Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level,” as per IMD. “The southwest monsoon is very likely to advance into the South Andaman Sea, some parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands around May 13, 2025,” the weather body added.

Karnataka Weather Forecast

Till May 16, light to moderate rain with gusty winds is expected in coastal and northern districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad and Kalaburagi. Wind speeds may range between 30 and 50 kmph in some areas.

In southern parts of the state, including Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu, Bengaluru (Urban and Rural), Tumakuru, and Chikkamagaluru, weather conditions are expected to shift from isolated rainfall on May 12 to more widespread showers from May 13 to May 16. Gusty winds between 30 and 40 kmph may accompany the showers, particularly on May 13 and 14.

The IMD has predicted increased rainfall across the state after May 12. Districts such as Chamarajanagar, Davanagere, Kolar, and Ramanagara are also likely to see moderate showers later in the week. However, areas like Belgaum, Madikeri, Chitradurga and Gadag may experience heavier rain today itself, while the rest of the districts are expected to remain dry and sunny.
