The National Book Fair, which opened on Thursday at Balrampur Garden, Lucknow, is offering not only a wide range of books but also several unique items, drawing the attention of visitors.

Apurva Shah and Shama Shah from Ahmedabad have displayed a Hanuman Chalisa inscribed on a copper plate, claiming it is water-resistant and its letters will never fade. They have also brought what they call the country’s smallest Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, measuring just 1.5 inches, priced at Rs 80, with verses and their meanings printed inside.

At the Universal stall, apart from books worth Rs 100, environment-friendly paper pens are alsavailable. These pens turn into compost when buried in soil after use. “Three pens are priced at Rs 100,” stall owner Arun Sikka said. The Gayatri Pariwar stall is also attracting readers with books on good conduct, personality development, and works of Acharya Shri Ram Sharma. Coordinator Umanand Sharma said the collection would appeal to youth looking to shape their future.

Themed ‘Vision 2047: Developed India, Developed State’, the fair features 120 stalls from 50 publishers. Rahul Srivastava from Noida said many new books have been introduced. The event will also host a Kavi Sammelan, Mushaira, book launches, storytelling sessions, and competitions for children.

The fair will run until September 14, daily from 11 am to 9 pm.
