The ANTF unit of the Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow arrested a wanted criminal with a Rs 50,000 reward and his accomplice during an encounter early on Monday morning.
According to the information, an accused, identified as Pankaj Tripathi, was injured by a police bullet in an encounter. The police arrested the accused along with his associate, Narendra. A country-made pistol (desi katta), two spent cartridges, one live cartridge, a motorcycle, some documents, and Rs 2,050 in cash were recovered from the scene.
Officials said that a case had been registered against Tripathi, a resident of Kaushambi district, under the NDPS Act in the same and neighbouring districts, in connection with which the Rs 50,000 reward had been announced.
He was confronted by the ANTF in the Mohanlalganj police station area of Lucknow. Narendra, a resident of Raebareli, was also with him at the time. During the encounter with the ANTF, Pankaj was shot in the right leg, after which he and his accomplice were arrested.
