Days after a shocking accident unfolded in Kanpur, another incident took place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in the Banthra area on Thursday, February 12, after a speeding car allegedly driven by a Class 12 student rammed an auto-rickshaw and some pedestrians, leaving five injured and a boy dead. The accident took place around 6 pm near the Hanuman Temple on Kanpur Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, the student was driving a Maruti Swift with his girlfriend beside him when the accident occurred. Subsequently, the car rammed into an auto-rickshaw, thereby leading to the death of a six-year-old boy and injuring pedestrians who were walking on the sidewalk. The student allegedly fled from the scene after dropping the girl at a different location.
The injured were identified as Armaan (12), Awadh Bihari (42), Sadhana Verma (35), Meena Devi (60), and six-year-old Dikshant Patel. All were taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. However, Patel, who sustained critical injuries, was referred to another medical facility where he succumbed to injuries during the treatment.
“The child was referred due to his serious condition, but he died during treatment,” police said. It also said that the panchanama proceedings are currently underway.
The police have traced the vehicle using information provided by the accused’s girlfriend. However, the accused is still absconding from the scene.
Kanpur Hit And Run Case
In a separate development, a speeding Lamborghini Revuelto, allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, son of Kanpur-based tobacco businessman KK Mishra, rammed into pedestrians and multiple vehicles on a VIP Road on Sunday afternoon, injuring at least six people. The accident occurred around 3.15 pm near Rev-3 Mall, when the luxury car went out of control, triggering chaos in the busy area. Police later seized the vehicle following the incident.
